Canadian
Business Press is pleased to announce a valuable new benefit to its Members. Effective June 5th 2007,
CBP Membership will include access to all
American Business Media
membership services (ABM is CBP's counterpart in the United States). Under the terms of the agreement,
CBP will pay the annual ABM membership fees on behalf of its Members. The CBP Board voted to provide
this new service to its Members with no increase in CBP membership fees at this time.
With the exception of the right to vote at ABM annual meetings, CBP Members will be entitled to access
all ABM Member benefits and products, including those that are password protected on the ABM website,
and will pay ABM Member rates for all activities or products that incur a fee.
Access to an extensive library of advertising and editorial research, white papers and webinars on industry
issues, promotion of Canadian publications to U.S. advertisers and data on best practices in the digital
marketplace, are among the many tangible benefits that will be available to CBP Members. Members will
also be encouraged to serve on ABM Committees to help develop and share best practices.
An important part of the agreement is the formation of a new International Advisory Board, which will
comprise several Canadian Members and representatives from other countries around the globe. This initiative
will provide all CBP Members with a "window on the world of business press publishing."
It is also important to point out that the agreement in no way inhibits the ability of the Canadian
Business Press to aggressively support the Canadian policy on Canadian ownership and content rules;
and other matters related to international trade and the publishing sector.
An official announcement was made at the CBP Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 4th, immediately
preceding the Kenneth R. Wilson Awards event. A welcoming letter from ABM and company-specific website
pass codes will be mailed to CBP Member Company principals shortly.
